Lectio approach with each poem
Our first reading - is an opportunity to get to know the poem. I listen carefully for any words or phrases that seem to jump out. It’s important not to force things, but wait patiently.
We will then sit in meditation/contemplation for 3 minutes.
The second reading of the same poem focuses further on the points I become aware of during the first reading. It is a time to reflect more deeply, more carefully on what speaks to me.
I try not to analyze the passage. It’s easy to slip into “study mode” and think about interesting points rather than listening to what the poem might be saying.
We will then sit in meditation/contemplation for 3 minutes.
Third reading - is time to respond. Time to share and record my thoughts by speaking and journaling because I know I’m very prone to forgetting what I’ve learned, even by the next day!
Admit Something
Everyone you see, you say to them,
Love me.
Of course you do not do this out loud;
Otherwise,
Someone would call the cops.
Still though, think about this,
This great pull in us
To connect.
Why not become the one
Who lives with a full moon in each eye
That is always saying,
With that sweet moon language,
What every other eye in this world
Is dying to Hear.
